If your computer is freezing up a lot, it could be a sign that your hard drive is failing, but it’s not the only possible reason. A dying hard drive can cause slowdowns and crashes, especially if it’s struggling to read or write data. You might also hear clicking noises or notice files disappearing.

That said, other things can cause freezing too—like not enough RAM, overheating, outdated drivers, or even malware.
