KYC verification is required for Pioneers to transfer their Pi balances to the Mainnet. Failure to complete KYC within the rolling grace period of six months results in the reallocation of unverified Pi to Pioneer mining rewards.

The grace period balances the need to give Pioneers adequate time for verification with the urgency to complete KYC. It also prevents unverified Pi from migrating to the Mainnet, ensuring the integrity of the ecosystem.

Newly created accounts must wait 30 days before applying for KYC verification to limit abuse by bots and fake accounts. This prioritizes resources for real human Pioneers and helps maintain the integrity of the verification process.

Unverified Pi beyond the grace period is reallocated to Pioneer mining rewards and not transferred to the Mainnet. This ensures that Pi on the Mainnet is held by verified Pioneers who contribute to the network’s growth.
